With over 40 years in research and development, we’ve optimised the in vitro embryo production system. The below guide helps in understanding how our products enable genetic improvement through OPU-IVF.
Ovum Pick Up-In Vitro Fertilisation (OPU-IVF) has many advantages over the other female-focused reproductive technology (MOET / Embryo Flushing). In Vitro Production of Embryos (IVPE) is able to be repeated on donors more frequently than MOET, and therefore can potentially produce several-fold more offspring per year per donor. With OPU-IVF, embryos are produced from ova that have been aspirated from genetically superior female animals and transferred into recipients of inferior genetic quality (fresh or frozen). It is the fastest method to increase genetic gain within a herd. The IVPE technology is also the platform for other embryonic manipulation technologies such as cloning and gene editing. The opportunity to purchase the media as a complete kit may help to standardise processes and increase success rates, especially for new adopters.

The consideration of critical events during IVM have led to the development of improved methodologies and media formulations which have been incorporated into ART Lab Solutions IVP Media Suite (see Figure 1 below), resulting in an increase in embryo yield.
